For Men

Do you think she's pregnant?

576-800You are not alone in this situation. Right now you're probably feeling scared... maybe even trapped...

We talk to guys, too. Not to pressure. Just to inform, support and walk with you. The two of you can get through this. She needs you now more than ever. It’s vitally important that you provide her with the support she needs --emotionally and physically. Here are some tips on how you do this.

  • STAY CALM. It's normal to have feelings of fear, anger and frustration. You're not alone.
  • DON'T BAIL. The more you run from this, the harder it becomes to think and act clearly.
  • EDUCATE YOURSELF. Making a decision you will both feel good about includes getting all the information you need on your options and taking time to process it.
  • TALK WITH HER. Keep the lines of communication open between the two of you at all times. DO NOT close yourself off emotionally because this situation involves more than just you. Ignoring the situation will not make it go away.
  • TALK WITH PEOPLE WHO CARE. Not only with each other, but with other people you trust. People who can help you think things through from all the different angles. It’s important to discuss the situation with parents and others who’ll be directly affected. Keeping this a secret will only add to the stress – yours and hers.
  • BE HONEST. Own and share how you both feel. You’ll be surprised at how much it will help to know that you may share the same concerns.
  • LISTEN. That doesn't mean you have all the answers, just listen.
  • DON'T PRESSURE. Applying pressure will only push her away. You'll do better if you work as a team.

Don't forget - you have a very important role in this situation.
